"DigisnapTerminal.app" is damaged and can't be opened.

This article applies to an older version of DigiSnap Terminal.app. To avoid the procedure below, please download the current version of the app: download DigiSnap Terminal.app

If you see the error ""DigisnapTerminal.app" is damaged and can't be opened. You should eject the disk image." like in the screenshot below, do not worry. The download is not actually damaged; it is just a poor error message from OS X. The real problem is that DigisnapTerminal.app was not downloaded from the Mac App Store and so a special setting in OS X is required to run it.

The solution is to change your security settings to allow apps downloaded from anywhere:

  1. Open System Preferences and click on Security & Privacy
  2. Click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to allow changing settings.
  3. Under the General tab, set Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere:
  4. OS X now has the required permissions to run DigisnapTerminal.app.
