Harbortronics Joins Forces with photoSentinel

Harbortronics and photoSentinel Partnership

We are excited to announce that Harbortronics is joining forces with another specialist in long-term timelapse photography - photoSentinel. Together, the combined team will continue to work towards developing premium timelapse solutions for photographers and professional content creators.

photoSentinel is a well-established leading brand specialising in long-term timelapse camera systems, with offices around the world. The new partnership is the coming together of two companies who share the same ethos, striving for excellence through using technology to equip and empower photographers. By collaborating together, the combined expertise across these teams will accelerate the development of future hardware and software solutions in the long-term timelapse arena.

For Harbortronics and the existing product line-up, it is business as usual. There are no plans to retire the Cyclapse and Digisnap Pro anytime soon, and we will continue to support all systems out in the field.

Moving forward, the focus will be on new solutions for long-term timelapse photographers. Harbortronics founder and Lead Engineer, Mark Roberts, will be working with the photoSentinel engineering team on new technology that keeps providing great solutions to long-term timelapse photographers.

Our commitment to all our customers remains the same. Our purpose is to equip photographers and professional content creators with powerful tools to create great long-term timelapse. We hope that through this new venture, our mission will be further strengthened.

The DigiSnap Pro is a complete system controller for long term time-lapse photography. Power management, camera control, operator interface, and networking are all built into a very compact, low power package. Autonomous or networked operation are both well supported! See attached. DigiSnap Pro: time-lapse system controller

The Cyclapse Pro is a complete system, using the new DigiSnap Pro in our great Cyclapse housing. Cyclapse Classic & Pro systems

The list of features is extensive, and I strongly believe that they will suffice for any time-lapse application, whether it's on a typical construction site anywhere on the planet, or transmitting images from a floating iceberg in the North Atlantic. I'll list a few of the features here:

  • Automated Image Transfer (WiFi / 3G-4G / Ethernet / Satellite Terminal)
  • Status Emails, sent periodically or when there is a problem detected (camera, humidity, ...)
  • Dual battery connections supporting several battery pack chemistries
  • Charge from a range of power sources: Solar panel, battery bank, AC adapter, PoE
  • Reconfigure from a distance using a smartphone or tablet
  • Power, control and extract images from essentially all SLR cameras
  • Additional connections for sensors and external power control
  • Local storage capability: hard-drive in the housing, or flash-drive attached to long USB cable

Harbortronics was one of the very first companies to offer a complete time-lapse camera system intended for years in the outdoors. Admittedly, we've been slow to offer integrated networking features, but we now have perhaps the best hardware in the business. We can use essentially any camera you prefer, including medium format. Our equipment will operate well from small solar panels, not large solar arrays!

There are now a number of companies offering solutions, and it may be difficult to differentiate them from afar. I've structured our products and our business to be open and flexible. You own the equipment outright, no rental fees. If you choose to use networking to transfer images to your own cloud storage (your option), you pay us no monthly fees for the privilege. The images are yours—we do not assume any rights to those images for our own use. Our website lists all prices. We are happy to talk on the phone or via email but we never use 'hard sell' tactics nor suggest confusing plans. I believe we are the only equipment supplier that can say all of this!

Attention customers with our network transfer option: Eye-Fi will discontinue their relayed transfer service on September 16, 2016. If your camera depends on an Internet connection to transfer files, no Eye-Fi products will work for you after September 16, 2016. One alternative is to use the Toshiba FlashAir card's scripting features to upload images to an FTP server. Learn more about it here: https://cyclapse.com/ftp-upload-with-flashair/

Time-lapse camera specialist Harbortronics is adding a new outdoor camera housing to it's product mix, complete with a variety of mounts, and integrated into complete time-lapse systems. The new 'Cyclapse' family of components, addresses customer requests and experience gained over 11 years of developing, manufacturing, direct sales and support of long term time-lapse systems.

The Cyclapse housing will accommodate full frame SLR and medium format cameras within a very compact, water-tight, weatherproof housing. A full set of mounting solutions have been developed for the housing, along with matching mounts for solar panels. The installed system will look tidy and professional on any job site, and provide years of operation.

Autonomous operation is the intended application for the Cyclapse Classic systems, allowing image collection for extended periods without connection to AC mains or networks. As with the original 'Time-Lapse Package' from Harbortronics, the included electronics are highly efficient. Harbortronics camera systems have been installed overlooking construction sites, dam removal projects, art installations, glaciers, agricultural fields, wild animal studies, and monitoring an amazing variety of other long term processes.

The 'Cyclapse Classic -Standard' system can take 200 or more pictures per day when installed almost anywhere on the planet, and includes a 24MP Canon T6i camera. A wide variety of SLR cameras have already been selected as options for the system, and will be included on the new website over the coming days.

The 'Cyclapse Classic -Extreme IQ' system makes use of the Pentax 645Z medium format camera to produce images that are unsurpassed by any other time-lapse camera system available at any price, all while housed in a tiny, light weight, reasonably priced package. For projects that require the ultimate image quality, the Phase One iUX camera is also an option!
